Complete Care treats six primary spinal and neck injury types:
Whiplash
Whiplash occurs when the head is suddenly forced forward and then back during a collision, straining the neck’s muscles, ligaments, and tendons.
It is the most common car accident injury and can range from mild stiffness to chronic neck pain and reduced mobility if left untreated.
Herniated & bulging discs
The discs that cushion the vertebrae in the spine can shift, bulge, or rupture under the force of a collision.
Herniated and bulging discs are a common car accident injury in Florida, compressing nearby nerves and causing pain, numbness, or weakness that radiates into the arms or legs — symptoms that often worsen without treatment.
Sciatica & radiculopathy
When spinal nerves are compressed or irritated by disc damage or spinal misalignment from an accident, the result is often sciatica and radiculopathy — sharp, radiating pain that travels from the lower back through the hips and down one or both legs.
Spinal stenosis
A car accident can accelerate or trigger spinal stenosis — a narrowing of the spinal canal that puts pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots.
Symptoms include pain, cramping, and numbness that worsen with activity and improve with rest.
Spondylolisthesis
Spondylolisthesis occurs when one vertebra slips forward over the one below it — a condition that can be caused or worsened by the trauma of an auto accident.
It can produce persistent lower back pain, leg pain, and difficulty walking or standing for extended periods.
Facet joint syndrome
The facet joints connect the vertebrae and allow the spine to flex and rotate.
Facet joint syndrome results from inflammation or damage to these joints following trauma and commonly causes localized neck or back pain that worsens with movement or prolonged sitting.
