Mental Health Counseling After Car or Workplace Injuries

Mental Health Services for Auto and Workplace Injuries

It’s normal to feel worried, guilty or uneasy after a serious car accident or workplace injury. But if these feelings continue for weeks or longer, they can begin to impact your day-to-day life. Sometimes, what starts as worry or unease can develop into something like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In fact, motor vehicle accidents are a leading cause of PTSD.

At Complete Care, we offer mental health counseling for adults and children (ages 5 and up) who are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression or other emotional challenges following an accident or injury. We’re here to listen and help you take steps toward feeling like yourself again.

It’s not always easy to find the right words to explain what you’re going through, or even to know if your feelings are something to be concerned about. Our mental health counselors can help you find the words and process any feelings that develop after a traumatic experience, like a car crash. We help you address:

  • Anxiety and worry
  • Avoidance related to the injury or accident
  • Depression and low mood
  • Guilt or shame
  • Mood swings
  • New fears or phobias
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Sleep troubles and nightmares

Our Approach to Mental Health Treatment

Our mental health counselors work with you using a range of therapies designed to fit your needs, including:

  • One-on-one talk therapy to understand and manage emotions
  • Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), a type of talk therapy that can help address traumas and change unhelpful thought patterns
  • Exposure therapy, which helps you gently face fears and reduce avoidance
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that helps you process trauma
  • Psychosomatic therapy, which helps address how your body holds on to stress and anxiety
  • Solution-focused therapy to build practical coping skills

The goal is to support you in regaining control, finding relief and developing tools to navigate life’s challenges.

Why Consider Mental Health Counseling After an Injury?

Untreated stress, anxiety and depression can turn into long-lasting mental and physical health challenges. From muscle tension and headaches to digestive problems and heart disease, long-lasting stress affects every part of your body.

You may also find yourself increasingly lonely and isolated. For example, avoiding driving or places related to the accident is a natural way to cope after a car accident trauma

If these feelings or behaviors are keeping you from living as fully as you want, talking with a counselor can help you understand your emotions, work through them and move forward from your trauma.

Benefits of Mental Health Counseling for Accident-Related Trauma

We tailor our counseling approach to what you need most. It can help you:

  • Ease feelings of anxiety, sadness or fear.
  • Build confidence to face and work through what’s troubling you.
  • Recognize unhealthy emotional habits and replace them with healthier ones.
  • Potentially reduce the need for medications by teaching effective coping strategies.
